I was born in Seriate (Bergamo) on July 3rd, 1977. I received the Master degree (cum laude) in Electronic Engineering and the Ph.D. degree in Information Engineering from the University of Brescia in 2001 and 2005, respectively. I have been carrying out my research activity at the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Brescia since 2002.

I have been Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering (ING-IND/31, Elettrotecnica) since 2016. I have authored or co-authored more than 100 papers published in international journals, international conference proceedings and books. 

In 2010 I visited Aston University in Birmingham (UK) in the framework of a project funded by the "British Italian partnership programme for early career researchers". In 2018 I visited the Australian National University in Canberra (Australia) thanks to a mobility grant funded by the Erasmus Mundus Action 2 Strand 2 project NANOPHI.

I am a member of IEEE (Photonics Society and Power & Energy Society), Optical Society of America (OSA), European Microwave Association (EuMA), Consorzio Nazionale Interuniversitario per le Telecomunicazioni (CNIT), Istituto Nazionale di Ottica (INO), Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN).
