I was born in Seriate (Bergamo) on July 3rd, 1977. I received the Master degree (cum laude) in Electronic Engineering and the Ph.D. degree in Information Engineering from the University of Brescia in 2001 and 2005, respectively.
Since 2002 I have been carrying out my research activity at the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Brescia, where I was appointed as Full Professor in Electrical Engineering (IIET-01/A, Elettrotecnica) in 2024.
During my career I have authored or co-authored more than 190 papers published in international journals, international conference proceedings and books, by collecting more than 3100 citations with an h-index which is equal to 29 (Google Scholar).
In 2010 I visited Aston University in Birmingham (UK) in the framework of a project funded by the "British Italian partnership programme for early career researchers". In 2018 I visited the Australian National University in Canberra (Australia) thanks to a mobility grant funded by the Erasmus Mundus Action 2 Strand 2 project NANOPHI ("Europe - Asia - Pacific Exchange programme in Nanophotonics".)
I am a member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Optica, European Microwave Association (EuMA), Consorzio Nazionale Interuniversitario per le Telecomunicazioni (CNIT), Istituto Nazionale di Ottica (INO), Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN).
